  Final Draft — A Writer's Favorite Screenwriting Software

Final Draft is a top selling word processor designed for writing movie scripts, television episodics and stage plays. It automatically paginates and formats scripts to meet industry standards.

Here's what Aaliyah says...
I use Final Draft. I'm a bit old fashion in the sense that I still draft my outlines and scripts with pen and paper first. I have yet to use the many tools that Final Draft offers.
When it comes to typing up my script I don't have many complaints. The software is seamless and user friendly.

I love that if formats on its own. It recalls character names, locations and transition, etc. I enjoy that feature. While I haven't written teleplay's I'm happy to know there is a template for it (stage play's too). Not worrying about the formatting allows the writer to focus on his/her story.

My one complaint would be it's spell check. The spell check is worse than Microsoft Word. I would like future versions to have a wider variety of words that it can recognize. It's frustrating to see all the red on the page. I only want to see that when it's time for revision.

Overall I think it's a great program. Once you're registered they'll send you software updates, upgrades, and screenwriting workshop info via email. You can link up with other writers who use the software. They also host a screenwriting contest every year. It's worth the invest.
